The honeymoon with Ernesto Frieri is over. After breaking a few records and putting up ungodly numbers, the right-hander acquired earlier this year from the San Diego Padres has come back down to earth.
Since the all-star break Frieri has given up 7 earned runs in 8 innings of work. He's allowed three home runs, 7 hits, and walked 7.
Not much else to say. That's not closer material at all. That's not even 25-man roster material.
To put it simply, to continue to be a contender, our bullpen needs to be solid. Right now it looks shaky and the closer at the back-end might be the shakiest at this point.
